One of my favorite movies of 1997,

The 5th Element I found to be action packed with some excellent special effects and of course the beautiful 5th Element could really kick some ass. This is a very enjoyable movie for those cold winter nites.

The Highlander Series of movies is one of the best Sci-Fi series.

If you have not seen the HighLander series, check it out. Its an interesting story of Immortals on Earth.

Altho Stargate didnŽt do all that well in the theaters, I found it to be one of the best Sci-Fi Movies of 1994.

With an orginal story and decent special effects, this movie gave us a new look at Gods of ancient history. I recommend this movie for anyone that enjoys a good Sci-Fi movie. Also look for the SG1 Series. Also out on video.

E.E. "Doc" Smith wrote one of the all time best Space Operas. The Lensman Series. No other series has come close to matching The Lensman Series in my estimation.

This series has just be republished and is available for the first time in 10 years. This is the ultimate story of Good versus Evil on a Galactic Scale.

In Triplanetary, we learn how and why the Arisians and the Eddorians  met and started their struggle for the dominance of the galaxy. We learn how humans fit into the equation.

This book is a very slow read and not as exciting as the rest of the series. It is more of a history lesson that leads up to the real story. Near the end of the book, the action begins.

In the First Lensman, Book 2, the action continues with Virgil Samms receiving the first Lens bestowed upon him by the Arisians but not before he earns it by creating the Galactic Patrol. Where Triplanetary lacked this book more than makes up for.

Third in this series of 6 is the Galactic Patrol. With more fast paced action, the Galactic Patrol again tries to defeat evil with our hero Kim Kinnison. He must penetrate an impregnable base single handed to defeat the evil Boskonians.

The 4th Book in the series is the Gray Lensman. Kim Kinnison is back and again must defeat the Boskone. First he must find the location of the Grand Enemy base and then smash it.

Book 5 is the Second Stage Lensman. Book 6 is the Children of the Lensand is a an exciting conclusion to this series.

The orginal 6 Lensman books are now being published in the UK by Ripping Publishers. Click on the picture above to go to their website. They have sample Chapters of each book online for you to read.

2 other books by E.E. "Doc" Smith are based in the Lensman Galaxy. Masters of the Vortex and Spacehounds of the IPC. Both are entertaining reading and if you can find them, pick them up!

E.E. "Doc" Smith also wrote 2 other series. This series is no longer in print. But with the Lensman series making it back into print, hopefully the Skylark Series won't be far behind.

The Skylark Series is quite different from the Lensman series. I found it more lighthearted and it centers around 4 people, 2 men and 2 women. 1 of the men discovers the secret to complete release of ultimate energy, the key to exploring the universe. The other tries to get that secret. In the end, all 4 people end up marooned countless lightyears from earth. If you find the Lensman series too overwhelming, give this one a try.

The other series is the Family DŽAlembert Series. It has been many years since I read this series and I vaguely remember it. But I do recall enjoying it. Again, another series that is not as intense a Space Opera as the Lensman series.

I also have found the start of one other series. I have the first book only and have been unable to find any information other than the one book. The series is the Lord Tedric Series. Created by E.E. "Doc" Smith and told by Gordon Eklund, it is a combination of Science Fiction and Fantasy. If you have any information as to the rest of the series, I would be very interested to known.
